Familias Juntas (Families Together) is a program funded through a grant from local non-profit Get Outdoors Leadville!

The intent of the program is to motivate families to build a better understanding of nature and how to use it by doing activities in the outdoors. Any and all community members are invited to participate.

Patricia (Patty) is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico. She moved to Leadville in 1999. Patty had three children Alberto, Evelyn, and Jose (18, 16, 12) who attend Lake County Schools. Aside one from sister nearby, the rest of Patty’s family still resides in Mexico.

Patty found a perfect fit as the head of Familias Juntas, a program dedicated to introducing the Latinx community of Lake County to outdoor activities and opportunities. She has found a passion for helping youth & families expand their horizons and grow through their interactions with the outdoors, hoping to inspire stewardship on a generational level.
